Below is the blessed address of Hazrat Pir Haroon-ur-Rashid Sahib (RA), presented as delivered on 26 January 1985.
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. All praise is for Allah.
رَبِّ اشْرَحْ لِي صَدْرِي وَيَسِّرْ لِي أَمْرِي وَاحْلُلْ عُقْدَةً مِّن لِّسَانِي يَفْقَهُوا قَوْلِي
We are grateful to Allah Almighty, the Sovereign of all sovereignty, that He has once again granted us the opportunity and the ability to gather here for His pleasure, in His remembrance, and in love for Him. Millions and billions of blessings and salutations be upon the Leader of the Prophets, the Beloved of Allah, حضرت محمد مصطفیٰ ﷺ, through whose grace this favor has been bestowed upon us.
Respected listeners! As usual, this blessed gathering in honor of the Messenger begins. Before that, it is necessary to understand a few things. This is the remembrance of Allah — a bouquet of His sacred names. We shall gather the flowers of this bouquet, flowers whose fragrance is endless. Each flower spreads its scent, and whoever gathers this fragrance in their heart is taken into the valley of love and certainty of Allah and His Messenger ﷺ. In that valley, love for the Messenger ﷺ becomes adorned with practical devotion, and the heart moves in a unique state of spiritual warmth and deep emotion.
Respected listeners! When Allah created His creation, He did not leave them alone and helpless in this earthly world. Rather, He also made arrangements for protection against the sorrows and hardships of life. Look at the animals: each has been provided not only with sustenance but also with means of defense. The goat has been given horns, the lion has been given teeth, and those without weapons have been given such colors that they remain unseen within their surroundings.
In the same way, Allah granted human beings intellect, hands, and feet so that they may strive to free themselves from difficulties and troubles. Likewise, the believers have also been blessed with a special means — and that means is the remembrance of Allah, these sacred supplications (awrad).
When one sits in this gathering with sincere love, devotion, and certainty, and recites these sacred invocations, particles turn into suns, deprivation turns into destiny, empty thought gains boundless passion, and the participants of the gathering become delighted with the beauty and grace of Paradise. Prayers are accepted, desires are fulfilled, and the surging ocean of Divine mercy sweeps away sins like dry straw.
Now, with the same focus and attention, let us begin the sacred recitations.
بِسْمِ ٱللَّٰهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
The blessed awrad were recited, and supplication (dua) was offered.
