Sher Shah Ghazi, Salaar-e-Aala Silsila Nisbat Rasooli, Al-Haaj Pir Haroon-ur-Rashid Sahib رحمۃ اللہ علیہ
Sher Shah Ghazi Hazrat Al-Haaj Pir Haroon-ur-Rashid Sahib (رحمۃ اللہ علیہ), the grandson of Ghaus-ul-Ummat Hazrat Pir Muhammad Qasim Sahib (Baba Ji Sarkar) (رحمۃ اللہ علیہ), was a prominent spiritual leader in the history of Mohra Sharif. Throughout his life, Hazrat Pir Haroon ur Rashid Sahib (رحمۃ اللہ علیہ) was known for his discipline, humility, and unwavering commitment to Islamic teachings. His devotion was reflected in his dedication to worship and his steadfast adherence to the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. One of the most remarkable aspects of his life was his commitment to performing the sacred Hajj pilgrimage every year for more than sixty years. This lifelong dedication reflected his deep trust in Almighty Allah, known as Tawakkul, and his determination to make worship and obedience central to his life. Hazrat Pir Haroon-ur-Rashid Sahib also played an important role in developing Mohra Sharif as a center for spiritual learning and guidance. His weekly sermons and religious gatherings in Mohra Sharif and Islamabad provided opportunities for devotees to listen to Quranic teachings, reflect on Islamic principles, and strengthen their spiritual understanding. These gatherings were valued for their emphasis on addressing doubts, encouraging self-purification, and guiding people toward Irfan, or deeper spiritual knowledge and understanding of the Divine.
His Quranic teachings were compiled into a five-volume Tafseer of the Holy Quran titled Haqaeq-ul-Quran. This work is associated with his spiritual approach to understanding the Quran and explaining its teachings through the perspective of Nisbat-e-Rasooli ﷺ. Through Quranic reflection and spiritual instruction, his teachings emphasized the importance of understanding the message of the Holy Quran, applying its guidance in everyday life, and nurturing love and devotion toward the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
Despite the international reach of his spiritual mission, Hazrat Pir Haroon ur Rashid Sahib remained deeply humble. He viewed himself as a servant entrusted with continuing the legacy of his spiritual predecessors. His teachings encouraged followers to remain connected to the spiritual lineage of Mohra Sharif while placing sincerity, service, and devotion at the center of their lives. He often expressed the ideal of his followers becoming a “necklace of pearls”—united through love, humility, and devotion, with the hope of being presented in the blessed presence of the Holy Prophet ﷺ on the Day of Judgment.
His family also played an important role in the continuation of the spiritual heritage of Mohra Sharif. His sons, Dr. Ghulam Muhammad Gohar Nazir Gohar Sahib, the current custodian (Sajjada Nasheen) of Mohra Sharif, and Shahzada Ghulam Muhammad Jamal Nazir Sahib, are important figures in the family lineage associated with this spiritual tradition. The continuation of the mission through the succeeding generation reflects the enduring importance of the teachings, values, and responsibilities passed down through the spiritual leadership of Mohra Sharif.
The passing of Hazrat Sher Shah Ghazi Al-Haaj Pir Haroon-ur-Rashid Sahib (رحمۃ اللہ علیہ) in 2022 marked the end of a significant chapter in the history of Mohra Sharif. His death anniversary is commemorated annually on 28 February, when devotees gather for Quran Khawani and prayers for Esal-e-Sawab, seeking spiritual benefit for the departed. This annual gathering provides an opportunity to remember his life, reflect on his teachings, and renew devotion to the spiritual mission he served throughout his life.
Another important occasion in the spiritual calendar of Mohra Sharif is the annual Urs celebration held in June, which commemorates the spiritual legacy of Hazrat Pir Haroon-ur-Rashid Sahib and Aala Hazrat Al-Haaj Pir Nazir Ahmad Sahib (رحمۃ اللہ علیہ). These gatherings bring together devotees for prayer, remembrance of Allah, recitation, and reflection on the teachings of the spiritual elders.
