All Praise be to Allah Almighty
A hundred thousand thanks are due to Allah Almighty, the Exalted in Majesty, who has granted us once again this day the blessing and opportunity to gather here for His pleasure, in His remembrance and in His love. Countless blessings and peace be upon the Leader of the Prophets, the Beloved of God, Muhammad Mustafa, upon whom be peace, through whose noble mediation this immense grace has reached us.
Respected listeners! Allah Almighty has stated in the Holy Qur’an:
“And do not drive away those who call upon their Lord morning and evening, seeking His countenance. You are not accountable for them in anything, nor are they accountable for you in anything, so that you should drive them away and thus become one of the unjust. And thus We have tried some of them through others, so that they say: ‘Are these the ones among us upon whom Allah has bestowed His favor?’ Does not Allah know best those who are grateful? And when those who believe in Our verses come to you, say: ‘Peace be upon you. Your Lord has prescribed mercy for Himself: whoever among you commits a sin out of ignorance, then afterwards repents and reforms, then indeed He is Most Forgiving, Most Merciful.”
Verses 52 to 54, Surah Al-An’am
Some of the chiefs of Makkah, who were very proud and arrogant because of their lineage, wealth, and status, gathered one day and went to Hazrat Abu Talib. They said that those who sat with his nephew, Hazrat Muhammad, peace be upon him, were people who had once been their slaves or who depended on their charity. They said they could not sit with him or listen to his words in their presence. If those people were to be asked to leave when they came, then they said they would listen to what he said and consider it. Hazrat Abu Talib conveyed their message to the Prophet, peace be upon him. At that time, Hazrat Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, suggested that there was no harm in trying it for a few days, as those people were close and devoted followers who could step aside when the chiefs came. Then this verse was revealed, in which the Prophet, peace be upon him, was strictly forbidden from doing so. When the verse was revealed, Hazrat Umar sought forgiveness, saying that his opinion had been incorrect.
What this means is that a person must appreciate Allah Almighty’s kindness. God Almighty does not look at anyone’s wealth, intellect, or knowledge; He only looks at those who turn to His court with sincere hearts. Those who come possessing this wealth of sincerity hold great value in the sight of God. God tells the Prophet ﷺ to convey His greetings of peace to them and make it clear that He has made mercy upon them binding upon Himself. O you who believe in God’s sovereignty, who hold His Beloved dearer than everything, and who ask at His court! Understand and be certain that God is sending His peace upon you, and you need not worry at all, because God is saying that He has made it binding upon Himself to be kind, merciful, and to bestow blessings upon you—meaning He will surely do so. If anyone is left deprived, it will be due to a flaw in his own belief. Praise be to Allah that the Master has granted us this blessing today. So, begin His remembrance with sincere hearts and, by the blessing of these sacred recitations, submit your plea: O Lord, by Your grace we stand as supplicants at Your court; please overlook our weaknesses and fulfill Your promise of mercy.
Now, let us begin.
In the blessed name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.
The Awrād-e-Naẓīriyyah Sharīf were recited, and supplication was offered.
