All praise is for Allah.
Countless thanks to Allah Almighty, the Sovereign Lord, Who has once again granted us the opportunity and ability to gather here for His pleasure, in His remembrance, and in His love. Millions and countless blessings and salutations be upon the Leader of the Prophets, the Beloved of Allah, Hazrat Muhammad Mustafa (PBUH), through whose blessed mediation these favors have been bestowed.
Respected listeners! As usual, we shall begin the recitation of the sacred Awrad. Before doing so, I wish to mention a few points with the hope that you will listen attentively, so that these words may prove valuable for you and become a means of salvation for me.
Today is Friday, and moreover, it is Jumu’atul Wida (the Farewell Friday of Ramadan). This gathering is a gathering of seekers of Allah, people who have assembled solely for the pleasure of Allah Almighty and are engaged in His remembrance. Merely being able to participate in such a gathering is itself a blessed favor from Allah.
Friday is the day on which Hazrat Adam (AS) was created, Paradise was created, and on this very day Hazrat Adam (AS) was granted forgiveness. It is also on a Friday that the Day of Judgment will be established, and on a Friday that the people of Paradise will enter Paradise.
It is narrated in a noble Hadith that whoever dies on a Friday will be spared the trial of the grave until the Day of Resurrection and will be granted the rank of martyrdom.
During the blessed era of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), the Jews regarded Saturday as their sacred day and devoted it to worship and celebration, while the Christians observed Sunday for purification, worship, and rejoicing.
The Holy Prophet (PBUH) prayed in the Court of Allah, saying: “O Allah! Grant the Muslims a distinguished and blessed day as well.” Allah Almighty then bestowed Friday upon this Ummah and decreed that whoever sincerely purifies himself on Friday for the sake of Allah, walks towards worship seeking Allah’s pleasure, and worships Allah in the proper manner, all of his sins committed between one Friday and the next shall be forgiven.
Today is even more blessed, for it is Jumu’atul Wida—the farewell to the sacred month of Ramadan. On such a blessed day, the mercy and blessings of Allah showered abundantly.
All praise is for Allah that He granted us this day and enabled us to gather for His remembrance. After a year, this day will come again, but Allah alone knows who among us will still be alive and who will not.
Before sitting in such a blessed gathering, two thoughts are essential.
The first is that although Friday, Shab-e-Barat, and Laylatul Qadr are all blessed occasions, they are of no benefit to those who neither appreciate their importance nor make any effort to benefit from them.
Therefore, it is evident that in order to truly benefit from such blessings, one must first realize the significance of the occasion and understand why one has come to such a gathering. Then, with sincerity, one should thank Allah for granting this opportunity and present these sacred Awrad as a means before Allah, praying:
“O Sovereign Lord! Through the blessings of these sacred names, accept our gratitude for granting us the opportunity to remember You on such a blessed occasion. Accept our efforts in Your Divine Court, forgive our mistakes and shortcomings, make us Your true servants, enrich us with Your mercy and blessings, and fulfill all our lawful aspirations.”
The second point to understand is that this world is temporary. To become excessively attached to it is foolishness and self-deception.
From the beginning of creation until today, no human being has remained in this world forever. Whoever has come into this transient abode has inevitably departed from it. All the things for which man endures hardship, suffering, and develops deep attachment must eventually be left behind.
No one knows the appointed time of departure. It may come in the very next moment, or some time may still remain. Yet however long life may be, after it passes, it seems no more than a single moment.
Despite this, man often fails to take heed and instead remains preoccupied with worldly concerns, thinking only about unfinished tasks and ambitions.
You yourself are merely a traveler. This world existed before you and will continue after you. But the abode towards which you are journeying is the place where you shall remain forever. Therefore, seek Allah’s help in the face of death and strive to become among His chosen servants.
Whether rich or poor, every person must taste death. Death makes no distinction between anyone.
Hazrat Isa (AS) once said to his mother, Hazrat Maryam (AS), “Mother, let us withdraw from worldly distractions and go to the mountains to devote ourselves to the remembrance of Allah.”
Accordingly, they ascended a mountain and remained occupied in worship and fasting. Hazrat Isa (AS) would bring fresh leaves to break their fast, and thus mother and son would break their fasts together.
One day, while Hazrat Isa (AS) had gone to gather leaves, Hazrat Izra’il (AS) appeared and called out:
“O pure lady, devoted worshipper and fasting servant of Allah, peace be upon you.”
Upon hearing the voice, Hazrat Maryam (AS) became fearful and asked, “Who are you? Your voice has filled my heart with awe.”
He replied, “I am Izra’il, the one who separates loved ones and leaves children orphaned and women widowed. I have come to take your soul.”
She said, “Please wait for a short while until my son returns. He has gone to bring leaves for breaking the fast.”
Hazrat Izra’il (AS) replied, “I have not been granted permission to delay. Whenever the command is issued, I must take the soul at that very moment.”
He then took the soul of Hazrat Maryam (AS).
When Hazrat Isa (AS) returned, he thought that his mother was asleep and did not wish to disturb her. He himself began offering prayers. When the time for breaking the fast and later for night worship arrived, he called out:
“Mother, it is time to break the fast, and the time for worship has begun.”
But there was no response.
Then revelation came informing him that his mother had passed away. He arranged for her burial, and after completing the rites, he prayed to Allah:
“O Lord! Bring my mother back to life so that I may speak with her one last time.”
Allah granted his request.
Hazrat Isa (AS) asked, “Mother, how did you find the Hereafter?”
She replied, “It is very beautiful. Allah is pleased with me, and I am pleased with Allah.”
He then asked, “Mother, how did you find death?”
She replied, “My son, it has a very bitter taste, and that bitterness remains until the Day of Resurrection.”
After saying these words, she became silent forever.
Respected listeners! Even those noble people who spent their lives in devotion and righteousness had to taste death and depart from this world. What then will be the condition of worldly people who remain occupied day and night only with worldly concerns?
It is indeed Allah’s great favor upon us that He has made us realize this reality and granted us the opportunity to remember Him. We should value this blessing and present His sacred names in His Divine Court, praying that Allah may forgive our worldly shortcomings and make the hardships of the Hereafter easy for us.
We possess no support except His blessed names and the intercession of His Beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
Now, let us begin with sincerity.
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Awrad-e-Naziriyah Sharif was recited, followed by supplication.
