In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
All praise is for Allah
Countless thanks are due to Allah Almighty, Lord of Majesty, that the Master of all sovereignty has once again granted us the opportunity and the ability to gather here for His pleasure, in His remembrance, and in His love. Millions and billions of blessings and salutations be upon the Leader of the Prophets, the Beloved of Allah, Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), through whom this grace has been bestowed upon us.
Respected listeners! Before we begin the gathering of sacred litanies (Awrad-e-Pak), there are a few important matters that need to be understood and remembered. Humanity is of three types.
The first type are those about whom Allah Almighty says in the Qur’an (Surah Al-Baqarah, verses 6–7):
Those who disbelieve—who fundamentally deny Allah and His blessings—it is the same whether you warn them or do not warn them; they will not believe. Because of their disbelief, Allah has set a seal upon their hearts, and upon their hearing and sight is a veil. For them is a great punishment. Due to their denial, they incurred the displeasure of Allah to such an extent that the signs of God, whether within themselves or in the universe, are no longer visible to them. Thus they have deprived themselves of eternal life and everlasting joy.
When a person truly understands what he is—while even his own body manifests the power of Allah—and reflects upon the astonishing blessings Allah has placed in this world for him, he bows completely before the Majesty of Allah.
مَن عرف نفسہٗ فقد عرف ربَہٗ
“Whoever recognizes himself recognizes his Lord.”
The second type are those who believe in God but doubt His commands, His blessings, and His favors. This is a disease that deprives them of the wealth of faith. Allah says (Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 10):
فِىْ قُلُوْبِهِمْ مَّرَضٌ ۙ فَزَادَھُمُ اللّٰهُ مَرَضًا
In their hearts is a disease, and Allah has increased their disease. Allah is not in need of anyone. If someone believes in Allah and chooses His servitude, it is for their own benefit in this world and the Hereafter. No one can increase or diminish Allah’s sovereignty. Through denial or deviation, a person cannot harm Allah; rather, it results in his own misfortune, hardness of heart, humiliation, and disgrace.
The third type are those who are true and complete believers. Their description is given in Surah Al-Anfal (verses 2–4):
The true believers are those whose hearts tremble when Allah is mentioned—realizing how countless are His blessings for which they cannot fully give thanks. How can they dare to be heedless before Him? When His verses are recited to them, their faith increases. When the Qur’anic verses recount Allah’s favors and the histories of past nations—such as Pharaoh, Shaddad, and Nimrod—who denied blessings and met destruction, their faith in Allah grows stronger. Their certainty in the Hereafter and the Day of Judgment increases, and they become fearful of Allah.
Such people prostrate before Allah, express gratitude to Him, and spend from what He has provided them in His path. Remember, spending is not only of wealth but also of one’s life. Allah says that for such true believers there are ranks with their Lord—there is forgiveness, honor, and noble provision. They are granted sustenance with dignity.
My friends! It is Allah’s favor that we have gathered here to remember Him. May this remembrance become the means of our spiritual elevation and the attainment of both religious and worldly objectives. May it become the means of nearness to Allah and union with Him.
If a thought enters our hearts that this is a waste of time, that we could accomplish some worldly task instead, then this is a sign of illness in the heart. Such illness leads to Allah’s displeasure, and Allah increases that disease. It is as if Allah says: “If you have no trust in the blessings I have for you, then go—run after the world. Let the world run ahead of you while you chase behind it.”
Respected listeners! We should sit in the gathering of sacred litanies with the firm conviction: “O Allah! It is Your grace that You have granted us this opportunity and the understanding that success in this world and the Hereafter lies in Your remembrance. Wealth, honor, and health are all in Your control. Whoever remembers You, the world runs after him.”
We should sit immersed in the joy and ecstasy of this gathering, for these are but a few moments. If one’s entire life were spent in such a state, it would be true good fortune. With this intention, let us now begin.
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
The Awrad-e-Naziriyah Sharif were recited, and supplication was made.
