Discourse of Hazrat Pir Sahib (RA)

Dated: 29 November 1985

Speech No. 32

All praise is for Allah.

Countless thanks to Allah Almighty, the Sovereign Lord, Who has once again granted us the opportunity and ability to gather here for His pleasure, in His remembrance, and in His love. Millions upon millions of blessings and peace be upon the Leader of all Prophets, the Beloved of Allah, Hazrat Muhammad Mustafa (PBUH), through whose blessed means we have received this immense favor.

وَاذْكُرْ رَّبَّكَ اِذَا نَسِيْتَ

(Surah Al-Kahf, Verse 24)

Translation:

“And remember your Lord whenever you forget.”

Although this verse appears to be addressed to the Holy Prophet (PBUH), in reality it is guidance for the entire Ummah of Muhammad (PBUH). It contains a profound lesson worthy of deep reflection.

This world surrounds human beings with countless nets of joys and sorrows, causing them to become entangled. As a result, a person unknowingly invites both the displeasure of Allah and his own destruction. True realization often comes only after he has exhausted the wealth of his life, become overwhelmed with fatigue, and finds that the journey to the Hereafter is about to begin.

Since the Holy Qur’an is Allah’s complete guidance for humanity, He provides the cure before the illness fully takes hold. Allah teaches that whenever the attractions of this world consume you, whenever grief overwhelms you or happiness intoxicates you to the point that you forget your Lord, immediately turn back to Him in repentance. Seek His forgiveness and remember Him, for the true remedy for all your sorrows lies in His remembrance.

No matter how high a person may soar in pride and arrogance, he will ultimately have no choice but to return to Allah. Therefore, remember your Lord—the One Who granted you life, happiness, comfort, and every blessing. Be grateful to Him so that these blessings may endure. And if your own actions lead you into hardship, seek forgiveness from the One Who alone can break the chains of your suffering. Remember Him, for He alone is the source of deliverance.

Dear attendees,

What greater guidance could there be for the seekers of Allah—for those who have dedicated themselves to His love, who strive for His friendship, and who seek the path leading to Him?

Indeed, you remember Allah, but within the same heart remain memories and attachments to worldly life, children, parents, and material possessions. Is it wise to keep pure fragrance and foul odor together in one place? Certainly not—it is nothing but foolishness.

Do you possess two hearts, two vessels, or two separate chambers—one for the remembrance of Allah and another for the love of the world? Certainly not. Satan only creates this illusion to mislead you and divert you from your destination.

Nothing should occupy the hidden chamber of your heart except the remembrance and love of Allah. Forget the world, your wealth, your relatives, and even your own self for His sake, and then remember Allah. Only then will you experience the sweetness of His remembrance, witness the light it produces, attain the lofty ranks it grants, and discover the countless blessings Allah has prepared for those who remember Him sincerely.

The anxiety, restlessness, disappointment, and spiritual decline that people experience arise because they have mixed purity with impurity. Even while remembering Allah, they fail to reach their destination because worldly attachments still occupy their hearts.

Dear attendees,

These sacred Awrad consist of the blessed Names of Allah. We recite them only through the ability granted by Him, seeking His forgiveness and asking Him to remove the dust and impurities that worldly attachments have settled upon our hearts. We pray that He grants us sincere love for Him, constant remembrance of Him, and steadfastness upon the Straight Path (Sirat al-Mustaqim)—the path that makes a person worthy of Allah’s blessings and transforms him into a complete and perfected believer.

In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.

The Awrad-e-Naziriyah Sharif were then recited, followed by a concluding supplication (Dua).
