Discourse of His Eminence Pir Sahib, may Allah have mercy on him,

delivered on 28th February 1987

Discourse # 80

The Almighty Allah be praised that the Master of All Sovereignty once again granted us today the opportunity to gather in His remembrance and pleasure. Millions and billions of blessings and salutations upon the Leader of the Prophets, the Beloved of Allah, Hazrat Muhammad Mustafa, peace and blessings be upon him, through whom this grace has been granted.

Respected listeners! Allah Almighty has said in the Holy Qur’an:

وَلَوْ اَنَّھُمْ اِذْ ظَّلَمُوْٓا اَنْفُسَھُمْ جَاۗءُوْكَ فَاسْتَغْفَرُوا اللّٰهَ وَاسْتَغْفَرَ لَھُمُ الرَّسُوْلُ

“And if, when they had wronged themselves, they had come to you and sought forgiveness from Allah, and the Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, had sought forgiveness for them, they would surely have found Allah Most Accepting of Repentance, Most Merciful.”

(Surah An-Nisa, verse 64)

Several things become clear from this command of Allah Almighty. First, no matter how many mistakes a person makes or how many sins they commit, Allah Almighty is the One Who forgives. The way to seek forgiveness for such wrongdoing is for a person to present themselves before the Holy Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, and seek forgiveness from Allah. Then, if the Holy Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, also seeks forgiveness for that person, their sins will be forgiven. Allah Almighty has shown this way of seeking forgiveness, for a person may forget because of the temptations of the lower self and Satan, and forgiveness is attained in this manner.

Now, apparently, reaching Madinah Munawwarah is difficult for a person, especially for those who lack the means. Would they, then, remain deprived for their entire lives? Allah Almighty’s law applies to everyone, and the Master desires goodness for all, for He is the Master of everyone.

The second point is that, according to the belief of misguided people, the Holy Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, has passed away. Who, then, will seek forgiveness for those who come later? Or have those who come in the future been deprived of Allah Almighty’s mercy? No, absolutely not. Both these notions are wrong.

The reality is that whenever a person feels remorse for their sins and seeks forgiveness from Allah Almighty, stretching out their hands in supplication through the mercy and intercession of the Holy Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, the mercy of the Holy Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, encompasses them. When the Holy Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, seeks forgiveness for that person from the Master of the Kingdom, Allah Almighty’s forgiveness encompasses them.

If a person believes that the Holy Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, is not even aware of them, then that person has deprived themselves of the mercy of the Holy Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him and his family. In that case, there would be no forgiveness for them, and they would become deserving of Hell. Those who hold such a belief are misguided.

Our belief is that, by the grace of Allah Almighty, we have gathered in this assembly and are seated here to remember Allah Almighty. We will present our remembrance of Allah and the intercession of the Holy Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, before Allah Almighty. The Holy Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, is with us, and together with us, he will raise his hands in supplication on behalf of us humble servants and submit before the Divine Court:

“O Lord! These humble creatures of Yours have come to Your Court as supplicants, placing their trust in Your promise. They are remorseful for their sins. Grant them forgiveness, bless them with Your pardon and grace, and fill their laps with Your blessings.”

God willing, we have faith that Allah Almighty will forgive our mistakes. Through the blessing of the Holy Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, Allah Almighty will bestow His grace upon us. We will be delivered from the sorrows and worries of both worlds and blessed with the joys of both worlds.

This is a tremendous act of mercy from Allah Almighty toward the believers. It is now up to each person to decide how much they benefit from Allah Almighty’s mercy or deprive themselves of it.

These blessed Aurad are recited for this very purpose: that the Holy Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, is present with us, witnessing his followers stretching out their hands in supplication before him and before the Court of the Lord, and raising his hands along with us to plead for our salvation before the Court of the Lord of Majesty.

After this gathering, this practice, and this belief, God willing, none of those present will leave deprived.

Let us begin.

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ
